General Information
|
You will find
general information about Bonn on the following Web sites. [But don't get
too enthusiastic over this world of information: Sooner or later you will
end up on a German page, where no English version is available. Sorry!] Maps of Bonn you can find also on those sites. But one of the best
maps, although only in German, is provided by a different service:
Below some links extracted from the Web sites listed above are given for some main topics.

Sightseeing
|
Bonn is beautifully located at the bank of the river Rhine, with the scenic
Siebengebirge hills in the distance. If the weather is fine, it is certainly
a good idea to go for a walk or hire a bike and discover the surroundings.
Also in the city there are many points of interest.
The probably best survey is provided by the sightseeing page on bonn-region.de (right now only in German!).

Beethoven is said to be the most famous son of Bonn. [Hausdorff for example
also lived and sadly died in Bonn, but maybe he cannot beat Beethoven in
the 'general famousity rating'.]
You can visit the birthhouse of Beethoven, which now hosts a museum. The Beethoven concert hall (in German only)
is directly located at the river Rhine, about a 15 minutes walk from the
workshop location. Unfortunately there is no concert during the workshop
in this place. But our conference dinner will take place at the restaurant
'Da Capo' of the Beethoven hall. |
